Carol's Daughter Transitioning 1-2-3 |
Carol's Daughter has unveiled a new product line -- Transitioning 1-2-3 -- that's designed specifically for transitioners, as well as an online forum who want to transition to natural hair. The product bills itself as the "first and only relaxed-to-natural" kit.
This is one of the few products that most hair bloggers, except for those who are transitioning, can't really test or review. However, I think it's a good thing that a major Black hair company is paying attention to this critical market.
Natural hair isn't a blip on the radar screen; it's a major shift in black hair. The sales of relaxers have decreased double digits since 2007. Transitioning isn't rocket science per se, but it is a process that can come with challenges, especially among those who don't want to big chop.
Transitioning is a science in itself -- which products to use, as well as which methods to manage hair. What works on relaxed hair doesn't necessarily work on natural hair. And most transitioners have unique experiences; what's easy for one person may be more challenging for someone else.
And that's where Carol's Daughter comes in.
With the success of sites like CurlyNikki.com, online forums and blogs are a primary way that naturals communicate, share tips and information. Carol's Daughter online forum promises to provide tips for those making the transition from relaxed to natural hair, with videos, first-person stories and blogs from Carol's Daughter founder Lisa Price.
What do you think of products made specifically for transitioners?
