I'm still celebrating Michael Jackson's birthday and I just can't help but think of what
an awesome entertainer he was! More than just the "King of Pop," but the
best entertainer in the world!!! We'll be celebrating this man's life
for years to come.

Here's one of my favorite MJ songs but I also love "Butterfly," "Pretty Young Thing," "Billie Jean" and "Love Never Felt so Good." What are you favorite MJ songs?

BET apologizes for Blue Ivy natural hair "joke"

By Tenisha Mercer

Po' Blue Ivy Carter.

Really, Jay and Bey's offspring can't catch a break. A day after withering online criticism about 106th & Park guest host Karreuche Tran dogging Blue Ivy natural hair on TV, BET publicly apologized. Stephen G. Hill, BET's Vice President of Music Programming and Talent, apologized on Twitter in a series of four tweets to Jay and Bey, as well as Tran.

Tran made this comment about Blue's fro:

"I really did wake up like this, because my parents never comb my hair!”said Tran, one day after Blue stole the show -- and hearts -- while on stage with her uber famous parents and while dancing, singing and swaying to "Drunk in Love," and "Flawless" while Bey performed at the VMAs.

Her comments came a day after Beyonce's performance at MTV VMA Awards, and after Jay and Blue joined her on stage. Hill's tweets are below. But I'm not buying it. I have said countless times that a baby's hair should not be up for jokes or online criticism; it's taboo, or at least it should be.

On behalf of Bey and Jay, I do NOT accept BET's apology; writers should know better. Since when did a two-year-old's hair become the topic of pop culture discussion. Dang. Blue can't win for losing.

I'm throwing BET under the bus. And no, Tran, doesn't get a break just because she read the damn teleprompter. She is to blame as well. Always trying to be funny, when we are the ones who are getting laughed at. And it's not funny.

Altuzarra for Target debuts Sept. 14

By Tenisha Mercer

Lawd, forgive me when I tell you that I had never heard of designer Joseph Altuzarra.

Zara? Who? Where and the hell have I been? Say it with me and remember it, HairNistas - Altu-zarra.

But it's a name I shall not EVA forget him after my first glimpse of these here ankle boots-- and after hearing the New York fashion designer's line will be sold in Tarjay. These boots will be in my closet this fall, you hear me?

$59.99 at Target

The limited edition collection of 50 pieces of women's clothing and accessories drops Sept. 14 at select Target stores and online. The line ranges from $18 to $90, and it's an excellent pairing for the retail chain known for it's hip, haute couture designer collabos with everyone from Missoni, which sold out in minutes and crashed Target.com, to Kirna Zabete, Jason Wu and Phillip Lim.

Alutuzarra is sexy and sophisticated, baby. A big push in the right direction for Target, which is known to take fashion risks. I love the python ensembles. And that black orchid dress is FIYAH! Altuzarra clearly has a thing for jacquards, phython prints and orchids; the line is dominated with those themes.

I am predicting this will sell out - quickly. So get yours; I'll be getting mine!

Emmy fashions on the red carpet

By Tenisha Mercer
www.HairNista.Blogspot.com

Emmy fashions were HAUTE!

Mad Men's Teyonah Parris wore Christian Siriano and slayed 'em. She knows how to wear color and wear it WELL!

Teyonah Parrris

Loved everything about the look - her twisted updo and makeup.

Kerry came - and killed it -- in Prada. Yaaasss, BA-BAY! Not a big fan of the high, low look in evening apparel, but I love how Kerry wore it with the sequined miniskirt underneath the thigh high split.

Kerry Washington

Uzo Adubo
Orange is the New Black actress Uzo Adubo wore this beautiful red gown by Christian Sirano. A stunning and absolutely beautiful look! She also got the Emmy!

Angela Bassett
I'll take whatever Angela is eating, please! She looks great in this classic navy jumpsuit with the plunging neckline. I'd like to have seen a pop of color - citrine, maybe? - to liven up the dark ensemble. At 56, Angela is simply stunning. Really like the bangs, too.

5 cardinal natural hair sins and how 2-year old Blue Ivy is "breaking" every single last one of them

By Tenisha Mercer
www.HairNista.Blogspot.com

As soon as I saw Blue Ivy's fro at the VMAs, I knew SOMEBODY was gonna pop off at the mouth about her hair. And damnit if I wasn't right. I just knew folks on Black Twitter were prob going in on this baby...

"Bey did that, but did you see THAT baby's hair, tho?"

Jay-Z, Blue Ivy, Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, MTV VMA'sSource: MTV

Somehow, it all goes back to hair. Can't we just be happy for the Carter family for a second before we start talking about Blue Ivy's natural hair? Must it be the topic of conversation all the damn time?

Karrueche Tran, who's gotten famous for nothing more than being Chris Brown's girlfriend .. ex-girlfriend ... ride or die while in rehab ... sidepiece post-Ri Ri, I'm not quite sure, said Blue needed her hair "combed" during an interview on 106 & Park.

A grown woman throwin' shade at a 2-year-old? Much? Honey, the Bey hive will come stinging for that ARSE!

To be fair, I have heard the very same argument spoken by tons of folks NOT so famous, natural and permed. Women on Facebook, in real life. A lot say pretty much the same thing, all with a look of shock and incredulity, as if Bey has committed the cardinal hair sins and Blue is the sacrificial lamb:

1. Bey got too much damn money to let Blue walk around with her hair looking like THAT!
2. Bey always sports a weave. Why does Blue's hair have to look like THAT?
3. Bey's momma was a hairdresser. She should know better!
4.  Why don't they braid that baby hair? Got her walking around here looking like THAT!
5.  SOMEBODY need to comb that baby hair!

Now, here are my responses to all five.

Bey Kills it at the VMAs ... and Blue Ivy steals the show!

By Tenisha Mercer
www.HairNista.Blogspot.com

You just know that every year, there is ONE artist who turns it up at MTV's VMA Awards. Their performance is EVER-Y-THING, and we can't keep their names out of our mouths the next day.

Well, this year it was, who guessed, it - BEY. Despite all the rumors, her hubby and sis beefing in the elevator, the "they getting a divorce when the tour ends" nonstop nonsense, Bey did what she does best - perform that ass off!

Source: MTV
Might as well call the VMAs the BeyMAs. Cause chile did THAT! There was plenty of pelvic rolls and coochie popping (you know, Bey), and at one point her women-only dancers performed gyrating upside down thrusts.
