A Curly Girls Christmas Wish list
I hope that you get all the gifts you've been looking for under your Christmas tree -- especially those for your natural hair.
What's on your Christmas wishlist? Here's a peek at mine.
1. Hair steamer (this is a big one, since I have used a plastic bag, damp towel and microwave in the past).
2. Fingercomber unit - for those days when yo' hair just won't act right. For $39-79, you can't beat it for bad hair days.
3. A twist out from a professional at a national hair salon. Because after years of doing the twist out thing myself, it's time for a professional to twist up this ish.

The Perfect Bubble Ponytail on Natural Hair | How To - Naptural85
By Tenisha Mercer
www.HairNista.Blogspot.com
The bubble ponytail is one of the trendiest hairstyles of 2014.
Expect it to make major waves this summer. For me, this is a retro style that I wore as a kid. Remember how we used to have them with different color ponytail holder and rubber bands? Funny how time makes old things new again.
Check out this vid by Naptural85, who shows how to do a bubble braid on natural hair.

HairSpiration: Updos on Natural Hair
By Tenisha Mercer
www.HairNista.Blogspot.co
These days, I'm all about the updos. Some bobby pins, a good brush, gel or holding liqud of your choice and you're done.
Saw these pics and I just had to share. So FLY!

Report: Schoolmates bully, rip out hair extensions of 8-year-old Atlanta girl
By Tenisha Mercer
www.HairNista.Blogspot.com
This story broke my heart. An 8-year-old girl in Atlanta was teased so bad by her classmates about her hair extensions that they allegedly tore them out, ripping out pieces of her scalp.
Aoloni Dunbar's scalp was damaged so badly that she may have to get skin grafts to replace it. Doctors worn that her hair may not ever grow back. It's one of the most brutal cases of 'hair abuse' that I've ever heard (yes, what those kids did to this girl was not only criminal but also abuse).

3 Ways to Cut Time for your Natural Hair Routine
By Tenisha Mercer
www.HairNista.Blogspot.com
Spending hours searching for natural hair products, then meticulously applying multiple products to each and every curl each morning, and hours-long detangling sessions. Repeat. Whew! Who new natural hair could take so long to style and maintain?
Who has time for that? I know I don't.

Natural Hair is Mainstream
By Tenisha Mercer
http://www.HairNista.blogspot.com
I've been natural for so long that it's easy to live in a natural hair 'bubble' -- you see the blogs, the YouTube natural hair stars and you think that everyone is going natural or at least trying. I happened to see a recent issue of Black Hair Care Sophisticates and, even as a natural, I was shocked to see how much natural hair was represented.
Clearly, natural hair has gone mainstream.

Where is the Best Place on the Planet to Rock Your Curls?
By Tenisha Mercer
By Tenisha Mercer
Hanging out in Savannah, GA, last weekend with my super shrunken fro. Yeah, I know it's October, but try telling that to a city off the river that gets 50-60% humidity, even in the winter. My fro shrunk like a mug!
Which got me to thinking? Where is the absolute place to rock your curls with minimal weather shrinkage?
My hair already shrinks up enough, LOL. I don't know if I need weather to help it shrink more, if that's not the look I'm going for.
Is there even such a thing as curl utopia? Is it the Caribbean, with its lush, year-round 70-80-degree temps? Hawaii? Or is the Bay area, with its slightly coolertemperatures? What about the deserts of Arizona and Nevada, with their dry heat?
Where have you worn your best curls?

Natural Hair Mishaps
By Tenisha Mercer
I love my natural hair, but I swear, I have my days.
I wore an updo, using my favorite heavy duty MetaGrip Premium Bobby pins from Sally's Beauty Supply. If you don't know about them, they are the best. My hair absolutely laughs at the smaller ones, and when it comes to these, less is more; you don't have to use a gaggle of pins to achieve your look.
Well, apparently I had put the pin in a bit too tight. Now, it was irritating me all day, because it was too close to my scalp. But when I finally tried to take it out, it wouldn't budge. Not even an inch. I keep trying to make it looser. It was too close to my scalp, and I didn't want to draw blood. It was so close to my scalp that I couldn't grab it.
Exhausted, my hubby grabbed get the screw driver and lifted the Bobby pin up, enough so I could grab it. Finally, it was out. And no lost hair!
What kind of natural mishaps have you had?
